“Flying Over Sunset” will begin Broadway performances Nov. 4 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.
The new musical, which was originally scheduled to begin previews the day of the Broadway shutdown, has set an opening night of Dec. 6. “Flying Over Sunset” features a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, lyrics by Michael Korie and choreography by Michelle Dorrance.
The three leads, who play fictionalized versions of real people, are confirmed to return. Harry Hadden-Paton will play Aldous Huxley, Carmen Cusack will play Clare Boothe Luce and Tony Yazbeck will play Cary Grant.
The Off-Broadway opera “Intimate Apparel,” which features music by Ricky Ian Gordon, a libretto by Lynn Nottage and direction by Bartlett Sher, will resume performance Jan. 13 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, with an opening night Jan. 27.
“Intimate Apparel” began previews Feb. 27, 2020, but its run was halted by the March 12, 2020 shutdown.
